Green Building:

Green building is the new “era” in construction methods utilizing Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (L.E.E.D.)  This sustainable method of construction offers benefits for the owner, contractor, and for the environment which reduce costs throughout the facilities life cycle.

• Maximized conservation of materials and resources
• Improved indoor environmental quality
• Enhance occupant comfort and health

Viking Terrace Apartments

Viking terrace apartments is a Minnesota Green Community renovation with three buildings and 60 units.  The renovation consisted of a geo-thermal heating and cooling system, energy efficient sloped standing seam roof, a new facade with two inches of foam insulation around the perimeter of each building, new cabinets and vanities, new flooring, and upgraded windows. 

Usable demolition materials were recycled or donated to Habitat for Humanity and Crow Creek Indian Reservation.  Some material included: doors, kitchen cabinets, medicine cabinets, countertops, appliances, and carpet.
